Does Gltranslation use machine translation?
We work only with professional human translators in order to provide specialized and accurate translation services. We do not use machine translation. Some translators use Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, others rely solely on a multilingual word processor and their own experience.

With translation memory tools, blocks of text that have been previously translated can be saved and reused to speed up turnaround and enhance consistency. When we manage large projects, we often rely on translation memory tools.

What documents are best suited for professional translation?
All outgoing documents about your company are particularly well suited for professional translation. Indeed a good translation will help you build credibility as a global player. On the other side, a poorly translated document will always corrupt the first impression of a brand or corporate image.
Incoming foreign documents of dubious value are best suited for machine translation. For example, you would not use human translation for a piece of Chinese spam.

Turnaround time depends on the job. Jobs that are of more popular languages and of fewer words typically can be translated in a few days. Large jobs, may take several weeks to complete.

How do I view documents with different characters?
When you receive a translated document, you probably want to open and view the translation. If the document has a different character set (e.g. Japanese, Chinese), it will not display correctly.
If you are using Windows, you can download support for double-byte character sets from Microsoft.
Using Internet Explorer, click here

Choose the language pack and install it. After the installation, you will be able to see the appropriate character set.
If are using a different operating system or if the installation fails, we will print a copy of your document and mail it to you.

What file types can Gltranslation handle?
The document you submit must be saved in a format that Gltranslation can process. We can handle the following file types:

Note: graphics, headers, footers, and macros are not recognized as part of the text to be translated. For this reason, the word count may not be accurate. If the actual word count is different from the one quoted online, we will contact you before proceeding.

How do I get a price?
The "Instant Quote" feature on the home page is a simple way of finding out the price of a translation. Just enter the word count, the languages and the requested type of service (i.e. document translation, website translation, software localization). The price is automatically calculated for each service.

Our pricing is based on word count. This is the most objective way to quantify our work, and this pricing method is fairly standard in the translation industry. Our rates vary depending on word count, selected languages, and type of service.
The price does not include the translation of text contained in graphics, and excludes any formatting after the translation process.
